About Punky's
Punky’s Diner and Pies is a 50’s Diner in Medford Oregon, with “Homemade Goodness you can taste”. Jim and Connie Ronda are the owners and it is our goal to make each and every customer feel like they are our only customer and they are a part of our family. We are open for take out Monday-Saturday from 7am till 2pm .
As you walk up to our door you will hear 50’s and 60’s music playing, it makes you want to do some swing dancing or the jitterbug. We see many of our customers swaying to the music and sometimes singing along, gee it is hard not to. Go inside and probably the first thing you will see will be our huge EAT PIE sign and the red and white color scheme. “Jackson County Oregon needed a restaurant like this”, as we are told by many of our customers. Other quotes from our customers: “I love it because it is so bright and clean”, “We feel so young when we are here”, and “It is like coming home”. Our menu is a diner classic with many homemade items. Most all our recipes are family favorites. Among the homemade items are our soups, chili, potato salad, coleslaw, pancakes (Nutty Wheat, Oatmeal Cinnamon and Cornmeal Buttermilk), old-fashioned waffles, corned beef hash, patty sausage, country sausage gravy, old fashioned potato cakes, salad dressings (Ranch, Blue Cheese, 1000 Island and Greek), chipotle sauce, dijonnaises, Coney sauce, sauerkraut, taco meat, and noodles, homemade English Muffin Bread, jam and apple butter, grits and fried mush, just to name a few. Of course our pies are homemade from the bottom to the top and come with either a classic double crust or our Dutch topping which has the melt in your mouth taste of a shortbread cookie. Our pies are always made in a 9 ½” deep dish glass pie plate. Each fruit pie contains approximately two pounds of fruit. The cream pies are made with homemade filling and come in a variety of flavors. |
Whole pies are also available when ordered 48 hours in advance. See pie selection on the PIES tab. Again, we have many nice comments from our customer, “O, the crust”, “This is the best pie I have every tasted in my life” and “This is so sinful” among others. We also make our own Fresh Apple Cake, so yummy. On occasion we also have “Nannie’s Gingerbread."
Comfort food specials are available – Good old-fashioned home cooking. Examples of our homemade specials are Meat Loaf, Spaghetti, Lasagna, Turkey with homemade noodles over mashed potatoes, Beef Stew, Pulled Pork, Beef Pot Roast with potatoes and carrots and that is just for starters. Lunch specials are not available all the time, which is why we call them Blue Plate Specials. We also have Blue Plate Breakfast Specials. FYI: We have gluten free buns and bread available. Our 1/3 lb. burgers are fresh and are never frozen. We also make our own Firecracker Burgers. Veggie Burgers, Turkey Burgers are also available. Seasonally we have fresh tomatoes, cucumbers and cantaloupe from our garden. Both breakfast and lunch Munchkin meals are available. Breakfast served all day! 50’s & 60’s music brings out the kid in all of us. We play it all of the time. We see lots of customers swaying to the music or singing along. |
